About the Project
We are looking for an AI Engineer to join a team building AI-powered automation features for a customer support and operations platform. The product uses LLMs to classify requests, extract structured data from conversations and documents, suggest replies, summarise cases, and route tasks to the right teams.
The stack includes Python 3.11+, FastAPI, OpenAI/Azure OpenAI or similar LLM providers, LangChain or lightweight custom orchestration, PostgreSQL, Redis, and evaluation tooling. The role involves frequent communication with international product, engineering, and business stakeholders, so strong spoken English is essential.
What You Will Do
- Build AI-assisted backend features for classification, summarisation, data extraction, routing, and draft generation.
- Design prompts, tool calls, structured outputs, validation rules, and fallback flows for production use.
- Integrate LLM features into existing backend APIs and operational workflows.
- Work with document parsing, text normalisation, metadata extraction, and confidence scoring.
- Create evaluation datasets and measure quality, latency, cost, and failure modes of AI features.
- Implement guardrails, observability, trace logs, and safe handling of sensitive customer data.
- Collaborate with product managers and domain experts to turn ambiguous use cases into testable AI workflows.
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of commercial software engineering experience, preferably with Python backend development.
- Hands-on experience building LLM-powered features or AI automation workflows.
- Experience with Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and background processing.
- Understanding of prompt design, structured outputs, model limitations, evaluation, and hallucination risk.
- Ability to design practical AI workflows that can be monitored, tested, and improved in production.
- Experience with Git, Docker, CI/CD, and standard engineering practices.
- Strong spoken English - B2+ or higher for discussing AI behaviour, requirements, and trade-offs with international teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, Anthropic, Gemini, or similar providers.
- Experience with OCR, document intelligence, embeddings, or semantic search.
- Experience with LangSmith, MLflow, prompt evaluation tools, or custom AI QA pipelines.
- Background in customer support, operations automation, document workflows, or SaaS products.
