Overview
When one of Ukraine’s largest third-party logistics (3PL) operators sought to modernize its last-mile delivery infrastructure, it turned to Infinity Technologies. The client specializes in logistics outsourcing and warehouse services, managing high volumes of daily shipments across the country.
The challenge: streamline how the client's customer transferred orders from SAP into a modern logistics workflow, and automate order creation for Nova Poshta, Ukraine’s leading postal operator. The goal was to eliminate bottlenecks, reduce manual data entry, and build a scalable system capable of handling thousands of orders effortlessly.
The Challenge
The logistics provider needed a system that could:
- Seamlessly integrate with the customer’s SAP system to import order data
- Automatically create shipping waybills and registers for Nova Poshta
- Accurately handle complex address recognition and transliteration
- Eliminate manual processing and improve speed and consistency
- Be easy to deploy, manage, and scale — with zero infrastructure overhead
Given the need for flexibility, speed, and cost-efficiency, a traditional enterprise system would have been too complex and slow to implement. Infinity Technologies had to design a lightweight yet powerful solution, leveraging cloud-native tools to support critical operations.
Our Solution
To meet these requirements, Infinity Technologies built a last-mile delivery management system using Google Cloud technologies. The system was designed to be lightweight, fast, and fully automated — while supporting integration with both SAP and Nova Poshta APIs.
Order Intake & Processing Automation
The heart of the platform is built using Google Sheets and Google Apps Script, offering a familiar interface for operations teams while enabling powerful data processing and automation behind the scenes.
- Orders from SAP are automatically imported into the Google Sheet-based interface
- Data is validated, formatted, and enriched with delivery metadata
- Address fields are transliterated and normalized using custom microservices
- Waybills and shipment registers are generated instantly
Microservices for Smart Processing
We developed standalone microservices to handle:
- Recipient name transliteration to meet Nova Poshta formatting standards
- Address recognition and parsing, reducing failed delivery attempts
- Order grouping for batch shipping and shipment register creation
- API-driven communication with Nova Poshta for label printing and tracking
This architecture allows the platform to operate at scale, processing unlimited orders while maintaining a responsive and reliable interface.
Postal Integration
Once orders are verified and batched, shipment details are sent via API to Nova Poshta, triggering:
- Automatic shipping label generation
- Real-time order registration with the postal operator
- Centralized record-keeping for audit and customer support
